Meet your students' union JMSU and Freshers activities 2023

Liverpool John Moores Students' Union, or JMSU for short, is your students’ union and they come as part of your university package.

They are here to help you get the most out of your time at university and provide lots of opportunities for you to make friends, get stuck into your studies, all whilst getting on-hand support along the way.

Opportunities

Together LJMU and JMSU will be here to welcome you with open arms during your move in period and to help you settle in with a packed Freshers schedule. There will be lots of different activities, events, and opportunities for you to get involved in (and these are open to both our new and our returning students!).

The schedule ranges from raveminton, to open air cinemas, craft sessions to sports inductions, trips into the city and beyond, not to mention our heavily-anticipated Freshers Fair – where you can bag yourself some one-of-a-kind freebies, learn about JMSU and what they offer, as well as meet some of LJMU’s student support teams. Plus, an endless amount of Domino’s Pizza. Oh, and did we mention it’s free?

The fun doesn't stop at Freshers, though - an amazing events programme runs year-round, so you'll never run out of opportunities to try out new and exciting things.

Whether it’s a little or a lot, volunteering some of your time for a good cause is something LJMU and JMSU believe in. There are over 100 different volunteering opportunities for you to get experience and boost your CV that you can sign up for today through JMSU.

Make friends

JMSU also offer over 100 student groups for you to meet likeminded people, try out new hobbies or continue a skill you already know and love. From sports teams, society groups and student communities - find your people today.

Getting help and support

JMSU has their own confidential advice team that is completely independent from LJMU, who can support with academic queries and can also offer sound signposting to the right university services. There’s a JMSU reception in the Student Life Building if you want to chat to someone from the students’ union, and on social media too - feel free to give JMSU a DM.

Your student experience is so important to LJMU and JMSU. The students' union takes pride in student voice playing a big role in how they run things, striving to help make positive change for you and your fellow students at LJMU. JMSU support student-led campaigns, challenge the university to make LJMU a better place and encourage you to become student representatives.

JMSU is led by four headstrong student officers, who are elected each year to represent an authentic student voice at JMSU. You can get to know your current student officers for 2023/24 Jasmine, Clodagh, Shaquita and Alexandria over on their Student Officer webpage.

That's enough for now - there is so much more in store for you.

Together we hope you get stuck in, get involved and we'll see you during Freshers!
