New professors and readers at LJMU

Dozens of LJMU staff are celebrating after becoming professors and readers following the university’s rigorous conferment process.

The VC and Conferment Panel considered a wide range of evidence from the applicants, including how their work contributes to the LJMU Strategy 2030.

The panel also consulted with independent external assessors - who have not supervised, collaborated or published/produced outputs with the applicant – to comment on the applicants’ standing in their subject area.

Professor Keith George, LJMU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research and Knowledge Exchange), said: “I’m delighted for all our new professors and readers and congratulate them on their achievements.

“The quality of applications and supporting evidence was exceptional and reflects the outstanding work being done right across LJMU. Our university has an established culture of impactful research and knowledge exchange and the work we do here makes a real difference.

“I’d like to thank the panel members and external assessors for the rigour of their assessments of our staff as well as acknowledge the excellent professional service support. Congratulations to our conferred colleagues once again on this significant milestone in their careers.”

LJMU’s new professors can now look forward to delivering their inaugural professorial lectures, to present an overview of their academic achievements and share their insights into the subjects they feel passionately about.
