New templates for the nomination of external examiners

The university’s External Examiner Panel has recently approved new templates for the nomination of new external examiners, including for the first time a dedicated template to nominate external examiners from industry or practice (if required by an accrediting professional body).

The new templates have been informed by stakeholder feedback and contain enhanced guidance notes to support colleagues in preparing their nominations for consideration by the External Examiner Panel.

The new templates can be found on the Academic Registry external examining webpage and have been approved for immediate implementation.

It is recognised that there will be nominations in development which have utilised the previous template. Therefore, the External Examiner Panel will continue to accept nominations on this template up to and including the December 2024 meeting of panel. After this point, all nominations will be required to be presented to the panel utilising the applicable new template.

The dates of the 2024-25 meetings of the External Examiner Panel can be found on the Academic Registry committees webpage.

If you have any questions on the new nomination templates, or external examining more generally, please contact Academic Quality and Standards colleagues using the Helpdesk
