March is Library Fest



Library Services are gearing up for an exciting lineup of events this March as part of Library Fest 2024. 

There’ll be a range of exciting activities taking place from book swaps to poetry readings, exhibitions, and giveaways for all students, staff and visitors to get involved in.

Activities taking place this Library Fest 2024 include:

Monday 26 February 11am and 2pm: LGBTQ+ History Month Session in LJMU's Special Collections & Archives, Aldham Robarts Library 

Explore LJMU's archives relating to LGBTQ+ history, life, and experiences in a guided session for LGBT History Month. Book here.

Friday 1 March to Friday 29 March: The Women of the Nineteenth Century Press exhibition, Aldham Robarts Library foyer 

This will be accompanied by an online exhibition The Women of Punch, both curated by Dr Clare Horrocks, Senior Lecturer, Culture and Communication and provides an insight into the Library’s wonderful Nineteenth-Century Periodicals Collection and The Liddell Hart Collection of Costume.

Thursday 7 March 12 to 2pm: World Book Day Big Book Swap, Student Life Building  

LJMU Library and Creative Writing are celebrating World Book Day with a Big Book Swap on Thursday 7 March from 12 to 2pm at the Student Life Building. Come and find your next new read, and if you're not sure what to pick, our helpful book doctors will be on hand to offer advice. You can also share a look into your own reading genres and favourite books with friends and peers, maybe via email or on social media, and colleagues, maybe by printing and sharing on your office doors or noticeboards, our downloadable World Book Day Qs template

Wednesday 13 March 2024 2 to 3pm: Aldham March Book Club, Leisure Reading Area, Ground Floor, Aldham Robarts Library 

Come and discuss your favourite books, or hear from others about what they’ve been reading. Everyone welcome, and tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.

Thursday 14 March 2024: Film Night Picks, Avril Robarts Library and Aldham Robarts Library 

It's Oscar season and LJMU Library are celebrating all things Film, TV and Theatre. Did you know you can access award winning video content for free via the Library? Pop into Avril or Aldham Library to pick up some popcorn and a playlist.

Tuesday 19 March 2024 11am to 12pm: Yoto Carnegie Prize Discussion, Leisure Reading Area, Ground Floor, Avril Robarts Library  

A chance to explore the 2024 Carnegie prize shortlist of books for children and young people and to hear how the selection process works from one of this year’s judges!

Thursday 21 March 2024 2 to 3pm: Yoto Carnegies Discussion, Children’s Reading Corner, Ground Floor, Aldham Robarts Library  

A chance to explore the 2024 Carnegie prize shortlist of books for children and young people and to hear how the selection process works from one of this year’s judges!

Thursday 21 March 5.30 to 7pm: LJMU Live Poetry Event, Pavilion Café next to Aldham Robarts 

Come and enjoy some live poetry with LJMU Library this World Poetry Day, Thursday 21 March. We're hosting a Poetry Open Mic night with Creative Writing at the Pavilion Cafe 5.30pm to 7pm. You can sign up to perform or just come along to watch with a free cuppa and biscuits. Come along to perform (sign up on the night) or just to listen. Everyone is welcome and tickets are free, but please book in advance as spaces are limited.
