Congratulations to our global Unicaf graduates!

LJMU and its African online university partner Unicaf have marked the inaugural graduation ceremony for scholars who studied online since the partnership began in 2020.

More than 1,990 students from 95 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Caribbean, and the Middle East, graduated in business, computing, education, health, psychology, law and other disciplines.

This celebration was the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance, honouring the graduates’ journey and the transformative impact of this unique educational collaboration.

Opening the event, Unicaf’s International Senior Marketing Manager Ms Ria Argyrides, congratulated the 160 graduates in attendance and introduced the distinguished guests to the assembled gathering.

Unicaf’s Chief Academic Officer, Dr Kevin Andrews, congratulated the graduates for their dedication and perseverance in the pursuit of knowledge and academic excellence, and expressed deep gratitude for the support and commitment to excellence of Liverpool John Moores University. “Together we are shaping the future of education and making a meaningful impact on the lives of countless individuals around the world,” he said.

Representing John Moores University, Professor Mark Power, Dr Robyn Pyne, Associate Dean, Global Engagement, welcomed graduates to the worldwide community of a British university, committed to the transforming power of education, innovation and inspiration, and stated: “Through our partnership with Unicaf we bring together the resources and expertise of both organisations to offer high quality, flexible programmes that meet the needs of students internationally and address the needs of employers.”

Liverpool John Moores University alumnus, Professor Islam El Nakib, Dean at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, emphasised that LJMU instils in graduates the commitment to make a difference, as part of a global community, dedicated to advancing knowledge and solving the pressing challenges of our times. 

Ms Nevine Baligh, speaking on behalf of all graduates, expressed deep gratitude to the two partner organisations for helping people to realise their dreams. She said: “The prestige and recognition associated with a degree from a distinguished British university, like Liverpool John Moores, have been invaluable in enhancing my career prospects in Egypt and abroad, and for this reason I am planning to pursue a PhD in the near future.”

Ms Isabella Stavroula Frangouli, Unicaf’s Partnerships Director, read out the names of all graduates present, while Unicaf’s Chief Academic Officer and Liverpool John Moores University’s Associate Dean presented graduates with commemorative certificates.
