Getting your 2024 results: Friday 7 June



This week you’ll receive your results, but how do you access them? What do they mean? And what should you do if you don’t get the results you wanted? Read our guidance and advice below. 

How do I get my results?  

At 9am on Friday 7 June you will receive a text message on your personal mobile number and an email to your LJMU address with a link to your results.   

This will take you to the My Results portal on MyLJMU. Log in using your LJMU username and password.

Understanding what your results mean  

  • You have successfully passed all your registered modules or Complete with Target Award: you've passed and can progress to the next year of your studies or receive your degree   

  • Uncapped Referral: this is classed as a non-penalised, second attempt at a module. Mark capping does not apply. This means you can achieve the maximum available mark for the module. This is only applicable for modules studied in the 2020/2021 academic year   

  • Referral: this is classed as a second attempt at a module. Marks are capped, and the highest achievable mark is equal to the minimum passing mark for the module   

  • Deferral: this is classed as a first attempt at a module. Deferral marks are not capped   

  • Exceptional Second Referral: this is a third and final attempt at a module - Marks are capped, and the highest achievable mark is equal to the minimum passing mark for the module   

  • Final Referral Attempt (FRA):  this is a third and final attempt at a module. Marks are capped and the highest achievable mark is equal to the minimum passing mark for the module. You will be charged per credit for a final module attempt and have ten days to accept this offer. Students with FMAs will need to attend all scheduled classes during the next academic year  

If you haven’t successfully passed, your results statement will tell you the activity and action that needs to be undertaken and by what date, for example an exam resit or an assignment due date.

Not the results you wanted?

There are a variety of resources to support you after receiving your results: 

  • Personal Tutors or Programme Leaders are your first point of contact, please speak to them directly if you have any queries related to your course and how you can progress effectively. You can also contact Academic Registry via the helpdesk if you have a query about your results.  

  • The Academic Achievement Team has a range of support available if you have not been successful with any of your assessments. You can book a drop-in appointment or check out the self-study resources.   

  • If your results are affecting your mental health and wellbeing, our Student Advice and Wellbeing Team is available with drop-in sessions or bookable appointments in SLB.   

  • John Moores Students' Union (JMSU) offers an Academic Support Advice Service outlining appeals and information on personal circumstances.

For the 2024/2025 academic year, registration for returning students opens on Wednesday 7 August. Should we need you to, you will receive an invitation to your LJMU email address signposting on how to register for the next academic year.
