Health, safety and environmental management code of practice updates



The Executive Leadership Team (ELT) has recently approved a new health and safety code of practice as well as amendments to a further 11 policies linked to health and safety and environmental management codes of practice.

New LJMU health and safety code of practice

A new health and safety code of practice in relation to animals on university premises - SCP23 Animals on University Premises - has been approved and added to the LJMU Policy Centre.

The university recognises that assistance dogs play an important role in the safety and well-being of disabled people and the document sets out specific guidelines concerning the safe and acceptable use of assistance dogs and other animals in campuses for the benefit of all.

Further LJMU codes of practice updates

The following revised codes of practice policies are also now available in the Policy Centre following approval by the Executive Leadership Team (ELT):

  • SCP24 Traveling and Working Overseas
  • SCP28 Pressure Systems
  • SCP30 First Aid
  • SCP34 Violence
  • SCP48 Food Safety and Hygiene
  • ECP1 Organisation for Implementation of the Environmental Management, Energy Management and Sustainability Policy Statement
  • ECP2 Arrangements for Implementation of the Environmental Management, Energy Management and Sustainability Policy Statement
  • ECP4 Municipal Recyclable and General Waste Management
  • WCP1 Drugs and Alcohol.

Accessing the policies

Policies can be accessed via the LJMU Policy Centre and staff can use the search function, using the name of the policy, to access the relevant document.
