Byrom Street development update

The university is making good progress on a series of major projects to enhance student and staff facilities at Byrom Street.

Our Estates and Facilities Management team is delivering four key developments in the James Parsons Building – a brand-new student zone, a dedicated staff lounge, phase 2 of our enhancements to the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences and a new design maker space.

We have reached significant milestones in the projects over the summer with the demolition of walls to create large and open study spaces in the Student Zone and new walls erected to provide private study and consultation spaces.

Our contractors are also currently working on mechanical and electrical works improvement works throughout the above spaces in the James Parsons Building.

The next phase of works to be completed will see the project reaching its final stages. This will include the installation of additional barriers to the main entrance, decoration works throughout and new furniture.

The works are scheduled to be completed by the start of the 2024/25 academic year.
