New and updated diversity and inclusion policies

The Employment Committee has recently approved a new diversity and inclusion policy and guidance document, as well as amendments to an existing policy.

New policy and guidance document

The Diversity and Inclusion Team has developed the Religion and Belief Policy and Religion and Belief Guidance document for all LJMU staff and students.

It is the university’s intention to create an environment that is inclusive and welcoming to all and where members of any religion, followers of any faith or belief or those without religion or belief are treated with equal dignity, respect and fairness, as long as this does not affect the rights and freedoms of others to study or work in the university.

The Diversity and Inclusion Team has produced an accompanying Religion and Belief Guidance document which covers various aspects related to religious diversity and inclusion within the university, including guidance on supporting religious observance with regards to teaching and assessment.

Policy update

The Diversity and Inclusion Team has updated the long-standing Diversity and Inclusion Policy. The policy is applicable to all staff (which includes for the purposes of this policy and for ease of reference, volunteers, casual workers and agency workers), students and applicants to work or study at the university.

The principles of non-discrimination and equality of opportunity also apply to the way in which staff and students should treat each other, visitors, service providers, suppliers and any other persons associated with the functions of the university.

Accessing LJMU policies

Policies can be accessed via the LJMU Policy Centre and staff can use the search function, using the name of the policy, to access the relevant document.

If you have any issues accessing the policies, please do not hesitate to email the policies inbox for further support.
