Take part in spring graduation 2025

All students who are eligible to attend spring graduation in March will be emailed an invitation to register for their ceremony during the week commencing Monday 13 January 2025.

Spring graduation runs from Wednesday 26 March to Friday 28 March 2025 with ticket collection, gowning and photography taking place at the LJMU Sport Building and the graduation ceremonies at Liverpool Cathedral (Anglican).

Graduation is an enormous university effort and staff are invited to participate in our spring ceremonies to ensure that students experience a memorable day.

The schedule for March does sit alongside other activities including teaching so I am mindful that not everyone will be able to join in, but I would urge you to take part if you can, so that our students experience an unforgettable LJMU graduation celebration.

Staff registration

Graduation is an opportunity for staff to wear their academic dress in recognition of their achievement and staff have from Monday 13 January until Friday 7 March to register for gown hire.

Graduation roles

The roles you can register for are:

• Student usher: supporting our graduands, making sure they are seated at the right times and ensuring they are in the correct order to go on stage
• Guest usher: you will be in the main body of the cathedral, welcoming guests, directing them to the seats and answering any questions they may have
• Procession: colleagues from our schools process through the centre of the cathedral wearing academic robes and sit on stage for the ceremony
• Banner bearer: carrying one of the LJMU banners to the stage as an important part of the procession and then from the stage at the end of the ceremony. This is a dual role, so you will also be working as a guest usher
• First aid and fire wardens: a key role as part of a wider team to make sure everybody has a safe and enjoyable experience at the ceremonies
