New year, new deals, new training for researchers

In 2025, what’s new for researchers at LJMU?

Open access journal publishing

LJMU researchers have access to open access publishing in journals across major publishers including Springer Nature, Wiley, Taylor & Francis, Cambridge University Press, and PLOS - which has been extended until 2025.

This ensures researchers can continue to publish in PLOS journals without paying Article Processing Charges (APCs), further supporting LJMU's commitment to open research.

Find out more about our institutional open access agreements which help to reduce or cover the cost of open access publication for all academic staff and PhD researchers.

Additional support for LJMU researchers

To help researchers navigate the publishing landscape, the researcher engagement team offers comprehensive training sessions. They are designed to equip researchers with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed publishing decisions and amplify their work’s reach and influence.

Upcoming training sessions

Open access publishing: what are your options? - Come along to learn a bit more about open access publishing and the various deals and options that LJMU are a part of, to help you publish more widely and more openly.

Journal Finders and Scopus - This session will demonstrate how to use journal finders to discover new places to publish-including some within our institutional open access deals and initiatives. It will also showcase how you can utilise the ‘compare journals’ function within Scopus to make informed choices.

Research staff can book onto training via the university events calendar.
