LJMU hosts drama day to celebrate 150 years of Princes Road Synagogue

To celebrate 150 years of the Princes Road Synagogue, LJMU hosted a special drama event earlier this month. 

The free event hosted by the university in the Joe H Makin Drama Centre, comprised of three performances by LJMU Drama and Musical Theatre students. 

Those in attendance saw performances of: 

  • I have a Beetle in My Black Box by Fanchon Frolich 

  • Mr Moonlight by Kim Millar 

  • One Hope Place - A Love Story: celebrating the stories and interviews from past pupils of One Hope Place 

More than 80 people attended the event including many who had been students at Liverpool’s Hebrew School. 

Further events at LJMU this month

The event is one of two events held at LJMU this February to acknowledge the Princes Road Synagogue’s 150th anniversary and is part of a programme of events across the city to celebrate Liverpool’s rich Jewish heritage and history. 

The next event hosted by the university will be the LJMU Film Day, taking place on Sunday 16 February 1pm to 9.30pm on campus in LJMU’s John Foster Building.  

The event will be free to attend and consist of film screenings and talks throughout the day.
