LJMU staff graduate from Calibre Leadership Programme

Seven LJMU staff members have celebrated their graduation from the Calibre Leadership Programme, a key initiative designed to empower disabled staff through transformative leadership development.

The ceremony, attended by colleagues, line managers, and Pro-Vice Chancellor Student Experience, Professor Phil Vickerman, was a powerful moment of reflection and celebration.

Graduates Julia, Claire, Christopher, Charlotte, Catherine, Ria and Gordon from academic and professional service teams across the university shared personal stories, breakthroughs, and insights from the programme, including intersectional identities and disability equality.

“This programme reminds us that real leadership is about positive influence, breaking barriers, and leading with authenticity” said Professor Vickerman.

“Today’s graduates exemplify the power of lived experience to spark lasting change.”

Developed in collaboration with Dr Ossie Stuart and LJMU’s Diversity and Inclusion Team, the programme supports staff in reframing how they view and discuss disability in the workplace.

The Diversity and Inclusion team looks forward to continuing this vital work to ensure all staff regardless of protected characteristics can thrive at LJMU.

Congratulations to all the graduates and thank you to the colleagues and managers who supported them throughout their journey.
