How are you spending summer 2025?

With teaching finished for the majority of students this academic year, you might be starting to think about what to do after your assessments (28 April to 9 May).

With so much to see and explore around Liverpool plus further opportunities abroad, we’ve pulled together some suggestions on what to do this summer.

Go Global

Interested in a volunteering placement abroad this summer?

Applications for LJMU’s Global Citizen Programme are open from now until Saturday 31 May.

Open to all undergraduate students you can apply to volunteer in Nepal, Sri Lanka, India, Morocco, USA, Canada, Thailand, Bali or Fiji.

Students can apply for funding as part of the scheme with volunteering programmes for a minimum of four weeks across a range of different areas including Sports Development, Marine and Wildlife Conservation, Social Impact and more.

To find out more and how to apply, head to the Global Opportunities portal on MyLJMU or find out more on the LJMUGlobalOpps Instagram.

Careers Support and Unitemps

Did you know Student Futures has its own graduate jobs and internship portal where you can search and apply for roles. So, whether you are a continuing student or set to graduate this summer, why not take a look at the job opportunities available both part time and full time over the upcoming summer months. You can also take a look and sign up for part-time work opportunities with Unitemps too.

Don’t forget as an LJMU student or graduate you have lifelong access to the LJMU Student Futures team and career service. So, whether you need help with interview prep, updating your CV or deciding what you want to do next, the team can help. You can book a 1 to 1 careers meeting now and over the summer.

Volunteering with JMSU

If you’re graduating

Students following the standard academic timetable will find out their results on Friday 13 June.

If you’re graduating this summer ceremonies will take place between Monday 7 and Friday 11 July in Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral.

You can view ceremonies dates and times, where to hire gowning and photography plus more frequently asked questions on our Graduation webpages.

Don’t forget to return all your Library books before you graduate too!

Enjoy Liverpool and the surrounding areas

If you’re staying around Liverpool, there’s so much to see and do this summer.

With beaches on the Wirral, Crosby and Formby only twenty minutes away, stunning nature in Wales and the Lake District within 90 minutes, plus culture, food, entertainment and history all in the city centre itself, you can’t go wrong spending your summer in Liverpool.

May to September will also see Radio 1’s Big Weekend hitting Sefton Park, Liverpool Pride March fill the streets, Flower Festivals across Merseyside and international artists performing in the city. You can find out more about what’s going on and things to do in Liverpool on the Visit Liverpool website.

Remember we’re here for you throughout the summer
