Healthcare charter unites NHS and industry

LJMU has signed up to a public-private partnership aimed at improving health and prosperity across the Liverpool City Region.
The LCR Healthcare Charter unites NHS Trusts, local government and industry in a shared commitment to tackle the region’s most pressing health challenges.
Organisations across the Liverpool City Region—including businesses, public sector bodies, charities, and other stakeholders—are invited to become Charter Partners, creating new channels to work together in addressing key health issues.
The Charter focuses on improving health throughout Liverpool City Region and beyond, where residents face significant challenges such as cardiovascular disease, multimorbidity, and health inequalities driven by socioeconomic factors. Partners will collaborate on innovative research and solutions in areas including biomarker development, population health, digital health technologies, and laboratory automation.
Dr Aileen Jones, Pro Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement and Partnerships) said: “Healthcare is the most pressing issue of our time and by working together and by making real commitments to collaborate, we can make real differences to our health and the welfare of our communities.”
Professor Louise Kenny (opens in a new tab), Executive Pro Vice Chancellor of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, at co-signatory, the University of Liverpool, said: “Our combined strengths create a platform that accelerates life-saving research, fosters ground-breaking innovation, and delivers real-world solutions to urgent health concerns in our local communities.”
