Screen School Facilities: A Student’s Perspective

With students across the country making their decisions on their university choices, thought it would be a great idea to go through the different screen school facilities we have available to us.
The Liverpool Screen School is made up of Film Studies, Media Production, Drama and Journalism and Sports Journalism, with Performance and Production set to launch for a new cohort in 2025.
Equipment Store
One of the main facilities open to our screen school students is our Equipment Store.
This room gives students access to any pieces of equipment that they might need on their course. Ranging from different cameras such as JVC’s, C-100’s and Black Magics, as well as LED lighting equipment, sound kits, boom poles and tripods.
We also have access to advanced filming kit such as radio mics, a track and dolly, Gimbals and jibs, everything that you would get on a professional TV or Film set.
If you are unsure how to use any available kit or if something goes wrong, our amazing technicians work Monday to Friday to ensure there is always help and assistance available when needed.
We have access to any piece of kit we could require for any freelance or student project.
Editing Suites
We have six main editing suites in the Redmond’s Building (pictured above), the biggest seating over 150 students, and the smallest sitting around 15 students, so if you prefer to work in a smaller and quieter or a larger and busier environment, we are able to accommodate what works best for you.
All editing suites are suited with computers with all Adobe packages installed, so whether you prefer to edit on Premier Pro, Davinci Resolve or After Effects, we have access to it all.
Again, when it comes to help and assistance, there are technicians skilled in different elements of film editing from sound, visuals and effects that are working Monday to Friday to guide you through the process.
Recording Suites
Whether you study Journalism, Film, Performance, or Media, you will find our recording suites extremely useful.
These recording rooms are soundproof with microphones, so whether you are doing some voice acting, line recording, hosting a radio show or producing your own podcast, these recording suites are perfect.
TV Studio
Our multi-million-pound TV Studio is perfect for our Film, Performance and Production, and Media Students. There is a multi-light set up to achieve the best possible lighting for your project, lots of space to build set, isolated sound and a green screen.
The studio also employs two full time technicians dedicated to the TV Studio to ensure that there is always assistance when needed.
Whether you are planning to film a TV-morning show, or a horror short film, this space would be amazing for you to work in.
