Christine is a HCPC registered Clinical Scientist, qualifying in 2014 after undergoing pre-registration and higher clinical scientist training in diagnostics and therapeutics (clinical and physiological measurement and Magnetic Resonance Imaging) at NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group (UHLG). Christine has previously held post-doctoral clinical research positions at the Universities of Liverpool and Manchester, focusing on neuroimaging.
In September 2024 Christine joined LJMU as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Advanced Practice. Christine’s previous role was a principal clinical scientist at the Royal Liverpool Hospital, combined with being the head of teaching and training for medical physics and clinical engineering for NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group (UHLG) and led pre- and post-clinical scientist training on the Scientist Training Programme (STP) and Higher Specialist Scientist Training (HSST) in physiological measurement, clinical engineering, MRI, imaging and bioinformatics. Christine lectured on the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) accredited MSc in Medical Physics/Clinical Science at the University of Liverpool from 2012-2024 and provided clinical supervision and work-based training to meet the requirements of HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist in several specialisms. Christine also worked on clinical trials in neurology and cardiology, having a particular interest in epilepsy, stroke, angina and heart failure.
Current research interests are focused on advanced imaging techniques for investigating cardiovascular disease. Of particular interest is functional MRI (fMRI) in determining the neural correlates of angina pain and Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (31P MRS) for assessing cellular kinetics in heart failure. Christine also provides teaching, training and research support for the clinical endoscopist training programme.
