Manchester versus Liverpool – it’s time we addressed the long-standing rivalry between our two cities. OK, sure Oasis hailed from your part of the world, but we have the original Oasis: The Beatles. Coronation Street may be the longest-running soap, but Brookside (R.I.P.) has been credited with pushing the boundaries of television. You’ve got a canal, we’ve got the River Mersey (with a UNESCO World Heritage waterfront to boot). And then there’s shopping: Arndale ZERO, Liverpool ONE. Which leads us to football…well, maybe we’ll leave that for now.

Whether it's Mozza or Macca, Eccles cakes or the Pound Bakery – let’s not dwell on all that divides us and instead look at what unites us. We’re both passionate about the places we live in because they’re filled with friendly, humorous, authentic people who embrace the culture and vibrancy that make our cities great.

How about we finally call a truce? We’d like to welcome you to study in our great city of Liverpool. And just like the city of Liverpool, you can expect a warm welcome and a home from home at LJMU.
