Sustainable Spending - National Student Money Week 2022
National Student Money Week takes place around the country from 21-25 February. It’s the UK’s biggest money awareness week for students and this year we are focusing on sustainable spending.
The aim of the week and of our Money Advice Service here at LJMU is to help you learn how to withstand any financial situation life throws at you. We are here to offer you support through the ups and downs of learning to manage your finances whilst studying with us, equipping you with the skills you need to achieve financial wellbeing now and in the future.
We are here to support you all year, not just this week so please contact us if you have any money-related issues you would like to discuss.

Event: Money drop-in
Location: Student Life Building (Student Advice and Wellbeing reception) and Byrom Street (James Parsons, main reception area)
Time: 10am-4pm
Come and meet our Money Advisors and have an informal chat about any money issues you are experiencing as well as taking part in our competition to win a £20 Amazon voucher. Our drop-in takes place Mon-Fri - 10am-4pm throughout the academic year in the Student Life Building so if you can’t make it this week, don’t worry you can drop-in any time.

Event: Budgeting webinar
Location: Online
Time: 4-5pm

We are never taught how to budget and yet it is one of the most important skills you need for life. Our money advisor will give you expert advice on how to budget whilst at University.
Tuesday
Event: Free lunch – ‘Feed your flat for a fiver’
Location: Student Life Building
Time: 12-2pm
It wouldn’t be National Student Money week without a free lunch. We will also provide you with a handout which contains all of the information you need to recreate the meal for your flat for £5. The lunch is vegan, gluten free and halal.
Event: Beacon Counselling (gambling support)
Location: Student Life Building
Time: 10am-4pm
Come and meet Steven from Beacon Counselling Trust an organisation completely separate from LJMU who offer free therapy for people dealing with problematic gambling in the North West of England. If you are worried about your gambling or are concerned about someone close to you, then come and have a chat or take some information from Steven.
Wednesday
Event: Grow your financial skills and take control of your future - Blackbullion Trial
Location: Student Life Building - IT Suite Room 202
Time: 2-4pm (drop-in anytime)
Come and have a trial with our financial wellbeing platform Blackbullion which is free for all LJMU students to use. We can also help you to apply for the LJMU hardship fund if required.
