Access and edit your work anywhere and collaborate online with Office 365

Last month staff were given access to Office 365. This resource includes web based versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint, alongside less well known applications such as OneNote (note taking), OneDrive (online file storage) and Class Notebook (collaborative space for student work).

It isn’t just the applications that are interesting here though, but also the flexibility that this package offers as a whole. For example, Office 365 generally will be great if you want to access and edit documents easily online and/or on multiple devices. Furthermore, its web based nature also makes it possible for students and colleagues to share and work on documents and folders synchronously even at a distance from each other. Click here for a quick video demonstration of this.

Although students have had access to Office 365 for a while, by granting staff access we can really start to experiment with and test what this resource can do.  Indeed in the future I am hopeful we will get a chance to explore some of the individual Office 365 applications with you, identifying their potential for supporting learning alongside helping with things like workflow, communication and creativity. For now though, feel free to start playing with it yourself and let us know what you think.
