NAH Mandatory Recording Guidance

Thanks to the new clinical suites and lockdown restrictions there is a growing number of formative and summative video assessments in the school. This has led to the creation of new school guidance and, in turn, we have been asked to put together a short learning object to support colleagues with this. The information within this learning object is an important read for all, as a number of colleagues have recently ended up with confused students (and staff), data protection risks and grossly increased workloads. Sadly, video is not a fire and forget assessment tool and careful planning, adherence to University Policy and student scaffolding is critical.

The learning object we have linked to below provides an outline of key things to consider, signposting and practical step by step guidance. It can be returned to as often as you like and as well as providing information it also includes a quiz to help you prepare for student recordings. In addition to this, if you are planning to introduce a new video assessment task, we strongly recommend you book a consultation with the TEL team, that way we can help make sure it meets your aims and goes as smoothly for you and your students as possible.

To access the learning object please click the link above and enrol yourself on the FHE-TEL training course. Once you are enrolled on the Canvas course please select ‘Additional Staff Guidelines for Recordings (Nursing and Allied Health)’ then the grey ‘Load’ button shown below. Unless you have recently read the University EVA policy and the new NAH staff and student guidance you will need to give yourself at least 45 minutes to engage with this content fully.

Important –The learning object also includes a link to new student recording etiquette/guidance, following new guidance for staff please make sure to download or copy and paste this information into your Canvas courses.

We will also arrange some drop in sessions in the coming weeks (at varied times and dates) for colleagues to receive hands on supported guidance using the new clinical suite recording facilities.

Thanks

Best wishes,
Chris and Niall
