   After 33 years of service, Julie Lloyd (Executive HR Director at LJMU) retires from the University. Julie is passionate about the progression of women in the workplace and has always advocated for more women in the boardroom - In her talk, Julie will explore the critical issues as to why we are not seeing more women in top positions and offer tips and strategies for overcoming the challenges to womens advancement and career progression.

   Former sports performance student, Helen Nicholls, has been appointed as Performance Director at British Equestrian.

4. IVF pioneer leads new Masters in Clinical Embryology

   A shortage of fertility professionals has prompted a new Masters degree with Liverpool John Moores University.

5. Exciting development opportunity for women to undertake action learning with peers from North West universities

   We are pleased to offer this development opportunity for up to 15 women working in academic and professional services roles to take part in cross institutional action learning sets with peers from universities in the North West region. Action learning provides a unique space for women to support each other to overcome work and career related challenges. This opportunity has been taken up previously by 150 women. Participant feedback includes: it was not role specific, so there were a range of individuals with different roles/skills/perspective which enriched my experience and It provided a rare opportunity to discuss issues confidentially outside of ones own workplace which helped me to develop more self-confidence and self-awareness.

6. Making space for women to thrive in astrophysics

   More than 100 schoolgirls heard from LJMU astrophysicists during a special British Science Week event that celebrated the contribution of women in STEM.

8. In memoriam: Dr Malcolm Dixon

   It is with great sadness that LJMU announces the passing of Dr Malcolm Dixon who worked here for 30 years, until his retirement in 2015.

9. Graphics alumna commissioned for high profile arts campaign

   Graphic Design and Illustration alumna, Lauren McLardy has been commissioned to create a new piece of work for Coventry City Council to mark World Mental Health Day 2020.

10. LJMU Sport Science ranked 15th in the world

    Sport and Exercise Science at Liverpool John Moores University is in the top 15 in the world in a new global ranking.
