3. Gold award for support of the Armed Forces community at LJMU

   LJMU has received a gold award from the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) acknowledging how it provides support to the Armed Forces community.

4. Were sauropods swimmers or walkers?

   An international team of scientists, led by the China University of Geosciences in Beijing and including palaeontologists from the Liverpool John Moores University, has shed new light on some unusual dinosaur tracks from northern China. The tracks appear to have been made by four-legged sauropod dinosaurs yet only two of their feet have left prints behind.

5. Revealing 100-year global height study

   Dutch men and Latvian women are the tallest on the planet, according to the largest ever study of height around the world. The research group, which included LJMU’s Dr Lynne Boddy, conducted the study using data from most countries in the world, tracking the height of young adult men and women between 1914 and 2014.

6. New and updated diversity and inclusion policies

   The Employment Committee has recently approved a new diversity and inclusion policy and guidance document, as well as amendments to an existing policy.

7. LJMU ‘Eco-bricks’ set to extinguish Bangladesh’s polluting kilns

   Civil Engineers from LJMU are helping solve one of the most pressing industrial problems in Bangladesh with a new process for making bricks.

8. New library services website launched

   The LJMU Library website has had a major refresh over summer and has launched this week ready for the new academic year.
