    Ami is an engineer with a passion for sailing. She is a graduate of the university’s BSc (Hons) Product Innovation and Development programme and has since gone on to make history as a member of the first all-female team to win an around the world yacht race on the Maiden yacht.

  2. Molly McCann

    Sports development alum Molly McCann, better known as ‘Meatball Molly’, is an inspiring scouse figure in the world of mixed martial arts (MMA). She is supported by experts in the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences to remain on top form as she competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

  3. Rainbow Mbuangi

    Visually impaired footballer Rainbow plays in the England Blind Football squad and works with our experts at the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences to ensure that he remains on top of his game.

  4. John Lennon 1940-1980

    As one quarter of the most influential band of all time, The Beatles, John Lennon spent time in the late 1950s at our College of Art and is one of our most celebrated failures.

  5. Leigh Pomlett

    Leigh is an alumnus of the Liverpool Polytechnic, using the skills and knowledge gained from his business studies degree to propel himself into a successful international career in the supply chain and logistics sector that spanned more than 30 years. He now combines his professional expertise and life-long passion for football for his role as Co-Chairman of Walsall Football Club.

  6. John Goulding

    John is a PhD student with the School of Education. He is also ex-forces, having served with the RAF Police before leaving the military and beginning his own higher education journey. Alongside his studies, looking at research to support veterans, John is a student representative on our Armed Forces Steering Group.

  7. Lisa McCleary

    Lisa works in the Safety, Health and Environment Team and celebrates 30 years as an employee at LJMU in October 2023.
