1. Bicentenary Artist in Residence the year so far

   Julia Midgley has sketched the return of our Roscoe Lecture Series, graduation and art and drama students' work.

2. Chief Constable annual lecture

   A packed theatre listened to Sir Jon Murphy QPM deliver his third state of the city lecture, which this year focused on the question, 'Is there a future for neighbourhood policing?' The event was organised by the Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies.

3. Nautical Science graduate Antarctic bound

   LJMU Nautical Science graduate Robert Bellis has been named Maritime & Coastguard Agency Trainee Officer of the Year 2016, receiving his award from Shipping Minister John Hayes MP.

4. The ‘Green Hell’ of our ancestors

   Tropical rainforests were once thought unliveable but scientists, including Liverpool John Moores University’s Professor Chris Hunt, are showing that our human ancestors lived in these conditions, and in fact the forests themselves are long-term documents of human action.

5. Move more and sit less to improve health and productivity

   Encouraging desk-based staff to move more and sit less at work can not only improve their health, but also their work performance, was the advice from the Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences (RISES), at a forum for contact centre employees.

6. Come and cheer on Team LJMU at the 2024 Lord Mayor's Dragon Boat Race

   LJMU are the main sponsor of this years’ event and three staff teams will compete on Sunday 12 May.

7. International tourism management students gain industry insight at airport visit

   Second year international tourism management students were given a tour of Liverpool John Lennon Airport earlier this month to gain insight into the operational and strategic challenges of managing one of the fastest growing airports in Europe.

8. LiRICS launch

   Liverpool John Moores University has officially launched its new research institute to address the key issues around climate and sustainability.

9. £4k raised so far through NSS

   Final year students have raised £4,000 for charity so far, by completing the National Student Survey.

10. Audit and Risk Policy update

    The Engagement of External Auditors for Non-Audit Work Policy has been revised.
