   Civil Engineers from LJMU are helping solve one of the most pressing industrial problems in Bangladesh with a new process for making bricks.

2. LJMU lecturer and terrorism expert advises Police on anti-terror policies

   LJMU is proving to be a pioneering voice in shaping police policy around terrorism and protecting young people from radicalisation in the region. Dr David Lowe, senior lecturer at the School of Law and leading expert on counter-terrorism has been working closely with Merseyside Police HQ, presenting at their recent Prevent Seminar, while assisting with guidance on law and policy issues more generally.

3. Empowering staff to support PGRs from racially minoritised groups

   Academic and professional services staff who support PGRs have a bespoke training and development opportunity designed by the educational charity Grit Breakthrough. Using a coaching approach to support PGRs is a two-day online coaching workshop, which will run across two days in November.

4. How can staff enhance the student experience? ‘Make every contact count’

   More than 120 staff from across the university attended an engagement workshop on prioritising the student experience.

5. Students raise money for sick children by completing NSS

   Final year undergraduate students have raised over £5,000 in just two weeks for Claire House Children’s Hospice by completing the National Student Survey.
