   Applications for LJMU’s study abroad programme are now open. Students can apply to spend either one semester or an academic year abroad at one of LJMU’s partner institutions across the globe.

4. LJMU researcher plays pivotal role in unexplained cosmic flare

   An LJMU astronomy researcher has played an integral role in the investigation of one of the most observed and puzzling objects ever discovered.

5. Transatlantic research partnership in the arts

   LJMU’s School of Art and Design has agreed a five-year partnership with Transart Institute in New York City, which will see the two organisations offer a joint transdisciplinary doctoral programme from summer 2020. The aim of the programme is to create an exchange in research areas including contemporary art, art history, curating and exhibition studies, digital culture and technology.

6. Lecturer's theatre show opens

   A production by an LJMU lecturer, based on the lived experiences of children who have a parent in prison, opens in theatres this month.

7. LJMU students share ideas with international delegates to work towards the United Nations Global Goals

   LJMU health and social care students joined international delegates at the Social and Solidarity Economy International Forum’s international conference in France.

8. Owen Copland: "A remarkable young man"

   Staff and students joined a flood of tributes to Owen Copland who died on Christmas Day after a long battle with a brain tumour.

9. Sexual Violence Awareness Week

   Throughout Sexual Violence Awareness Week (Monday 4th – Sunday 10th February), a new team of staff from Student Advice and Wellbeing Services were out and about across the University to talk to students and staff about the impact sexual violence and harassment has on individuals and communities

10. 5G technology used in Liverpool

    Margot James, Minister for Digital and Culture, this week visited Europe’s first dedicated 5G health and social care pilot, helping people live independently at home.
