1. School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences launches Athena Swan Action Plan

   LJMUs School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences (PBS) has launched their Athena Swan 12-point action plan this week.

2. Chair and Panel Member Briefing Sessions

   Three in-person sessions are being offered in Exchange Station for academic colleagues who wish to become a Validation/Periodic Programme Review chair or panel member.

3. Alpine F1 performance coach and jet lag doctoral researcher visits LJMU ahead of new Formula 1 season

   Sport and Exercise Science Professional Doctorate student, Tom Clark, visited LJMU last week in preparation for the start of the new Formula 1 season and to discuss his jet lag research. Tom has spent the past four years working with the Alpine F1 team and specifically their driver Esteban Ocon.

4. New ES1 form available for managers

   The Finance team has recently updated the ES1 form used to assess contractors against HMRCs off-payroll working rules (sometimes called IR35).

5. Join LJMU at Liverpool Pride 2024

   All students and staff are invited to join LJMU at Liverpool Pride on Saturday 27 July.

6. International students studying with upGrad celebrated in Liverpool

   Students from India, Jordan, Vietnam, Iran, Singapore and Norway took part in a three-day visit to LJMU.

7. Menopause cafes throughout 2024

   This year we will once again host four menopause cafes for our staff, with the first taking place on Tuesday 16 January, and anyone wishing to attend can book via the staff wellbeing events page.

8. LJMU celebrate Chemistry Week with neurodiverse learners

   Staff and students from across Outreach, Faculty of Arts, Professional and Social Studies and Faculty of Science joined forces with neurodiverse learners to celebrate Chemistry Week 2023.

9. Transformative criminological research celebrated at FACT 20th anniversary

   Dr Emma Murray, a Reader in Military Veteran Studies, has been collaborating with FACT since 2014 and in 2019 became FACT’s Criminologist-in-Residence.
