1. IT upgrades coming your way

   During the summer, IT services will be delivering an upgrade to Microsoft Office and Google Chrome will become the default browser.

   As the dust settles on the 2020/21 English Premier League season, Dr Gillian Cook and Dr Francesca Champ from LJMU's School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, examine how the absence of fans affected the campaign.

4. Start-up funding opportunity for new student businesses

   The LJMU Start-up Hub is excited to announce that the new Bathgate Boost award is now open! The £500 award is designed to support students who can demonstrate their business idea. Sitting alongside this funding is a package of support from the Start-up Hub team built around developing your start-up and skills as an entrepreneur. The award is open to all current LJMU students and new alumni who graduated from LJMU during 2023.

5. Staff and students support Whitechapel Centre’s Christmas Appeal

   Whitechapel and LJMU are working together to bring some much needed comfort to homeless people during the forthcoming festive season.

6. LJMU joins Higher Education, Transnational Education (TNE) mission to Vietnam and Cambodia

   During the mission, LJMU were able to showcase their University offerings, meet with the UK Ambassador to Vietnam, Gareth Ward, and hold business to business meetings to ignite discussions surrounding the development of transnational education opportunities.

7. LJMU fashion and broadcast staff raise career aspirations of local schoolchildren

   Cathy Reilly, fashion design and manufacture technologist, and Bradley Hessey, an experienced broadcast technologist , joined schoolchildren from St Leo’s School in Whiston during their Ambition Week.

8. Civil engineers offer solution to Bangladesh's toxic construction industry

   A NOVEL brick made from industrial waste has the potential to make a positive environmental impact and create 'clean jobs' in Bangladesh and elsewhere.

9. Pandemic exacerbated disadvantages faced by young people with special needs and disabilities

   Education, mental health, and social care downgraded or, in some cases, withdrawn altogether.

10. Volunteer at our March graduation ceremonies

    Staff are needed to usher graduands and guests, and to carry out other duties at the Anglican Cathedral during our March ceremonies this bicentenary year.
