1. New Researcher Development Opportunities:Dates Worth Saving

   New, exciting researcher development opportunities will be on offer over the coming months. Available only for limited numbers of researchers, it’s worth ‘saving the dates’.

2. Student finance reminder

   If you are an undergraduate student and are continuing on your course in September 2019, don’t forget to reapply for your student finance as soon as possible.

3. Health advice - mumps

   We are aware of a couple of LJMU students being diagnosed with mumps in the last few days.

4. Grad Fest 2019 – event for final year students on 3 April

   Grad Fest 2019 is a new event for final year students at LJMU, taking place on 3 April from 2pm-7pm at the John Lennon Art and Design Building.

5. Astrophysics Research Institute PhD student receives only UK award from NASA

   LJMU has the highest number of Hubble Fellowships in the UK, as one of their latest awards goes to an Astrophysics Research Institute student straight out of her PhD. Dr Emma Beasor was also the only UK student awarded a Fellowship this year.

6. Postgraduate Research Experience Survey 2019

   The 2019 Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) is now open. The survey runs from Monday 1 April until Friday 10 May.

8. Astro-ecology: Counting orangutans using star-spotting technology

   LJMU, WWF and HUTAN came together to examine better ways of detecting the great apes in the Bornean forest canopy, by using drones fitted with thermal-imaging cameras.

10. Contract signed to deliver major Copperas Hill scheme

    Morgan Sindall Construction has signed a contract to deliver Liverpool John Moores University’s landmark new development on Copperas Hill.
