2. New date for staff event raising awareness of domestic abuse support

   Staff are invited to an event on Wednesday 14 December from 10am to 11am at Exchange Station (Room 1 & 2), where they can find out more about how we're supporting those impacted by domestic abuse.

3. JST partners with LJMU to offer mentorships to undergraduate journalists

   LJMU’s is one of six universities, John Schofield Trust (JST) has partnered with to offer 1-2-1 mentoring to undergraduate journalism students.

4. PCC praises LJMU for raising awareness of domestic abuse support

   LJMU are signed up to the Domestic Abuse Workplace Scheme, led by the Police and Crime Commissioner's office, and more workplace champions are being sought.

5. Disability and neurodiversity equity: next steps at LJMU

   In recognition of Disability History Month (14 November to 20 December) and the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December, we’re reflecting on our progress over the past 24 months to support staff and students with a disability/ who are neurodiverse and outlining our next steps to advance disability equity.

7. Women in STEM lecture series: Chi Onwurah MP

   In 1984, there were 14 per cent of female graduates in engineering and technology courses. In 2015, there was still only 14 per cent of female graduates in engineering courses. This sad statistic formed the basis of an impactful lecture by Chi Onwurah MP about the gender imbalance in Science, Technology, Engineering and Technology (STEM) subjects and subsequent careers.

9. Latest AI research to help stroke and cardiac patients

   With awareness campaigns World Stroke Day later this month (29 October), we're shining a spotlight on one of LJMU’s latest research projects; TARGET, which is developing cutting edge AI technology to track and prevent strokes and atrial fibrillation.
