2. Discoveries of faint galaxies using supernovae

   Tom Sedgwick, PhD student at the Astrophysics Research Institute (ARI), part of LJMU,has with a team of ARI astronomers discovered 140 ‘new’galaxies, with findings due to be published in April’s edition of the prestigious journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.

   LJMU researchers have carried out a major national study on behalf of The Royal British Legion which shows the breaks and holidays they offer military veterans and their families hugely improves their mental health and well-being.

4. Contract signed to deliver major Copperas Hill scheme

   Morgan Sindall Construction has signed a contract to deliver Liverpool John Moores University’s landmark new development on Copperas Hill.

5. Research and Innovation Day Invites Entries to Scholarly Snaps Competition

   The competition for scholarly snaps will take place again at this year's Research and Innovation Day on Wednesday 19th June. To be a part of this competition please submit your pictures by Wednesday 5th June.

6. Jane Garvey Honorary Fellowship

   Read the oration for Jane Garvey in the presentation of her award as an Honorary Fellow of Liverpool John Moores University.

7. Arts and Humanities Research Council awards LJMU £250,000

   LJMU researchers are to help regenerate post-industrial sites of China after successfully bidding for £250,000 funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council.

8. Liverpool School of Art and Design will host its first art-science showcase after being awarded prestigious Leonardo LASER status

   The first LASER session will focus on the theme of faces and identity with presentations on facial skin growth, forensic art and cosmetic surgery.

9. Graduation review Thursday 12 July

   The morning saw graduations from Maritime and Mechanical Engineering, the Astrophysics Research Institute, Electronics and Electrical Engineering and the School of Nursing and Allied Health. In the afternoon Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering and Technology Research Institute, Civil Engineering and Built Environment all celebrated their graduations.
