  1. Violence and unintentional injury

    As a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Violence Prevention, the Public Health Institute works to support effective violence prevention by helping partners understand the impacts of violence, identify risk groups, choose preventative measures and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.

  2. Sexual and reproductive health

    HIV services and prevention work within the North West of England utilise the Public Health Institute's interactive tools, databases, and intelligence work. We offer assistance through evaluations and research into: contraception, teenage pregnancy, STDs, young people's health.     We deliver real-world solutions to the football community. Our areas of interest within football include: fitness and nutrition, psychology, match analysis, physical activity, skill acquistion and coaching, and performance analysis.

  4. Cardiovascular Health Sciences Research Group

    Our research aims to improve cardiovascular health via exercise training and physical activity. Our two main areas of expertise are cardiac function and structure and vascular function and structure in health and disease.

  5. Health and Wellbeing Research Theme

    Research interests within the Health and Wellbeing Research Theme focuses on the psychological aspects of illness, health and healthcare delivery.
