Exploring bedroom and workplace design preferences

You are invited to contribute to a research study by completing a confidential survey. Please take time to understand the purpose and what is involved. If anything is unclear, contact us. You may also discuss this with others if you wish. Participation is voluntary, and we respect your decision.

Purpose of this study

This study explores bedroom and workplace design preferences.

Please note:
This survey is not diagnostic: consult a professional if you have concerns about your bedroom or workplace.

Why you have been invited to participate

We are interested in knowing your preferences for bedroom and workplace designs. On average, individuals spend about one-third of their lives sleeping and a significant portion of their waking hours at their workplaces (almost 2/3 of our lives in these two environments), making the design of bedrooms and workplaces crucial for well-being and productivity.

Do you have to take part

No, participation is voluntary. Feel free to ask questions before deciding. If you don't want to participate, that's fine. You give consent by ticking the statement at the start of the survey. You can withdraw at any time without giving a reason.

What you will do

This study takes approximately 15-25 minutes. The blue progress bar at the top shows where you are in the survey.

You can also use the Save and Continue Later button (you will receive an email with the link to continue where you've stopped).

You will be shown photographs of examples of bedroom and workplace designs to evaluate them. Also, you will need to complete general surveys related to your personal, nature-related and transpersonal preferences.

The survey is composed of these parts:

  1. Consent form
  2. Demographic information
  3. Bedroom photographs evaluation
  4. Workplace photographs evaluation
  5. Personal, connection to nature and transpersonal/spiritual questionnaires
  6. Debrief

Participation benefits

Participating in this project offers no direct personal gains except for an increased self-awareness of your preferences and understanding of your bedroom and workplace designs. Your involvement is crucial in guiding the development of policies and interventions to design better workplaces and bedrooms for wellness and productivity.

Potential negatives of participation

This study does not involve emotionally charged questions, as with any study, there is a potential for emotional distress. Please assess your ability to continue, and stop if you feel distressed. Resources will be provided at the end of the survey, and you can also contact your GP or other health professionals if needed. The University is not liable for harm not caused by its negligence. Participants harmed due to negligence may bring legal action, which could involve legal costs.
