   Here are some highlights of what happened at the first two graduation ceremonies of the week.

2. Let’s Talk About Race Equality (Debating White Privilege, Micro-Aggressions, Allyship & Active Bystanders)

   The 2020 Black Lives Matter movement, reignited conversations on the subject of race equality, across the globe - The need for positive culture change was at the forefront of those discussions. This workshop aims to equip participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to address race equality at LJMU and understand the importance of ally-ship.

3. Olympus partnership to train more professionals in cancer screening

   Liverpool John Moores University is set to train more people in diagnosing cancer thanks to a partnership with global optics firm Olympus.

4. LJMU PHD student Valeria Carini recognised at Pandemic Institute’s first Student Excellence Awards

   Valeria was presented the award alongside students from the University of Liverpool and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine with grants for scientific research, aimed to enhance preparedness for future pandemics.

5. Pandemic exacerbated disadvantages faced by young people with special needs and disabilities

   Education, mental health, and social care downgraded or, in some cases, withdrawn altogether.

6. LJMU receives £1.3million for new STFC data science training centre

   Liverpool John Moores University, in partnership with the University of Liverpool, are set to host a new £1.3million Centre for Doctoral Training providing comprehensive postgraduate training in data intensive science.

7. The cosmic commute towards star and planet formation

   The flow of gas in the Universe by which stars and planets are formed is a process controlled by a cascade of matter that begins on galactic scales.

8. Sexual violence in Liverpool bars and clubs to be tackled by campaign

   A campaign to reduce sexual violence in bars and clubs across Liverpool City Centre has been launched today in partnership with LJMU.

9. Training for managers/personal tutors on disabilities and long-term health conditions, including mental health

   The aim of the programme is to offer LJMU Managers, Programme Leaders and Personal Tutors further support and guidance, in relation to; operating more confidently and effectively, whilst developing themselves and their staff/students positively.

10. Speeding offences fall, says LJMU School of Law

    An analysis of motoring offences conducted by Liverpool John Moores University and the RAC Foundation has shown a 12% decrease in speeding offences in Merseyside.
