5. LJMU Library launches new reading corner

   LJMU Library has developed a new children's reading corner, providing access to a collection of children's books. This new space provides a fun and relaxed reading area for use by students, staff, local teachers and school children.

6. LJMU donates 3,000 items to ease city's 'furniture poverty'

   LJMU has been helping to end furniture poverty for hundreds of local groups.

7. New book tracks nursing care in the Soviet Union

   LJMUs Dr Susan Grant has spent the last decade researching and tracing the history of nursing care in the Soviet Union, with her discoveries now documented in a new publication Soviet Nightingales: Care under Communism.

8. LJMU students help refugees at the Polish/Ukrainian border

   MA Wildlife Conservation students Vanessa Grundy, 27 and Alex Donnelly, 27 along with Vanessa's brother Mike Grundy are currently at the Poland-Ukraine border helping refugees get to safe accommodation in Krakow, and further across Europe, following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

9. Support for LJMU staff during exam season

   As the exam period gets underway, we understand it can be a stressful time for students but also for our staff, so were reminding everyone of the free 24/7 support services available at LJMU.

10. New ES1 form available for managers

    The Finance team has recently updated the ES1 form used to assess contractors against HMRCs off-payroll working rules (sometimes called IR35).
