1. Race equality champion Lord Woolley visits LJMU-curated exhibition of Jamaican art

   Race equality champion and House of Lords crossbencher, Simon Woolley (Lord Woolley of Woodford), was a special guest at the LJMU-curated Jamaica Making exhibition.

2. Forensic researchers partner with North Wales Police to tackle livestock attacks

   A pioneering collaboration between LJMU forensic researchers and North Wales Police will provide invaluable support to future livestock attack investigations.

   The Employment Committee has recently approved a new diversity and inclusion policy and guidance document, as well as amendments to an existing policy.

5. Banging the drum for heavy rock and metal music on Merseyside

   LJMU academic Dr Nedim Hassan is taking centre stage in a collaborative project that aims to support and develop the heavy metal and hard rock music scene within the Liverpool City Region.

6. In memoriam Dr Alistair Beere

   Dr Alistair Beere passed away at the end of August and his funeral arrangements have been shared by his family.

7. New Diversity and Inclusion Policy

   The D&I Team has developed the Transgender and Non-Binary Policy for staff and students, with accompanying guidance.

8. LJMU PE, School Sport and Physical Activity Network Event

   This face-to-face event is for primary and secondary teachers, Sport/PE students, trainee teachers and sports coaches working in schools. The event will: Disseminate the research activity and projects across LJMU PESSPA network Reflect upon the findings and recommendations of the Ofsted subject PE report series (Sept 2023) Celebrate collaborative activities/events.

9. Centre for the Study of Law in Theory and Practice (LTAP) Annual Lecture

   Professor William Schabas will deliver our inaugural Centre for the Study of Law in Theory and Practice (LTAP) Annual Lecture on ‘Race, Racial Discrimination and International Law’.

10. Equality, diversity and inclusion in journalism teaching conference

    The journalism department is holding a free one-day conference on EDI in Journalism education on June 26th. Although the conference is geared towards Journalism education, the conference is open to educators from other subject areas who will be welcome to share their research and best practice as well as benefit from transferable, practical ideas around embedding EDI in teaching, learning and assessment and creating an inclusive environment for students.
