5. LJMU in knowledge partnership with Chinese restaurant

   Liverpool John Moores University is making ground-breaking Chinese restaurant Lu Ban a food science and education partner.

6. Women in STEM lecture series: Chi Onwurah MP

   In 1984, there were 14 per cent of female graduates in engineering and technology courses. In 2015, there was still only 14 per cent of female graduates in engineering courses. This sad statistic formed the basis of an impactful lecture by Chi Onwurah MP about the gender imbalance in Science, Technology, Engineering and Technology (STEM) subjects and subsequent careers.

7. £20m project to launch first large electric ships

   LJMU joins a consortium with Bibby Marine, Port of Aberdeen, Shell, ORE Catapult, DNV and Kongsberg funded by Department of Transport

8. Students learn traditional techniques to create sustainable fabrics and garments

   Throughout the academic year more than 120 undergraduate, MA and PhD students from a range of disciplines across the Liverpool School of Art and Design have learnt a variety of traditional skills from leatherwork to weaving.

9. New HEFCE funding to upskill Liverpool City Region’s engineering industry

   LJMU has been awarded a share of £6.1 million by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) to develop new and enhanced higher education courses.
