1. Student teachers learn together with families seeking asylum in Toxteth

   A group of student teachers are working with families seeking asylum in Liverpool to provide education sessions for children without a place at school.

2. Ice Age bone samples reveal DNA links between wolves and dogs

   An international group of geneticists and archaeologists have analysed bones samples, some provided by LJMU, that reveal the ancestry of dogs can be traced to at least two populations of ancient wolves.

   Based on online reviews over the past two years, LJMU is ranked as the 6th best UK university according to the StudentCrowd awards 2022.

4. MA Art in Science students exhibit works at Glastonbury's first art-science exhibition

   Ten Liverpool School of Art and Design students and graduates showcased their work in the Green Futures Field at Glastonbury festival.

6. Drones to the rescue: wildlife park footage will help save endangered animals

   Scientists at LJMU are capturing the thermal profiles of animals at a local wildlife park in order to help researchers around the world classify and monitor endangered species in the wild.

7. Art and Science Exchange

   On Tuesday 27th & Wednesday 28th August 2019, the MA Art in Science programme at Liverpool School of Art and Design hosted an Art & Science Exchange workshop with members of the Biochemical Society. The exchange was held at the John Lennon Art and Design Building, in the Public Exhibition Space and X-Gallery amongst the MA Art in Science student's end of programme postgraduate exhibition, which showcases the outcomes of their three month research projects. These projects served as a basis for investigation of specific art-science interactions, and were supported by open discussions, hands on activities and a Liverpool LASER talk.

8. LJMU and LCR collaboration creates 44 apprentices for autism charity

   LJMU has collaborated with LCR to transfer £132,000 of unspent Apprenticeship Levy to Autism Initiatives, funding 44 new apprentice care workers for the charity.

10. LJMU receives Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence and National Teaching Fellowship

    LJMU is one of 15 teams to win the Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) and an LJMU academic has also been awarded one of 54 National Teaching Fellows (NTF). Dr Philip Denton, Principal Lecturer at the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, is the recipient of the NTF and the paramedic team at LJMU’s Schools of Nursing and Allied Health received the CATE.
