Following the close of the elections for 6 posts on the Academic Board, the results are now available.
The representations of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) roles is improving, but there’s work to be done. As of 2018, WISE Campaign (Women into Science and Engineering) announced that the UK is on track to have one million women working in the field by 2020. These statistics are encouraging, and demonstrate an improvement in opportunities shown to young women who pursue the career path.

As the university strives for equality, diversity and inclusion, more women are particularly encouraged to apply for the available roles in Readership and Professorship, as they are underrepresented at these levels.
In preparation for this year's World Cup, England Head Coach Eddie Jones brought the Northern-based players of his squad to LJMU to utilise the state-of-the-art sport science facilities.
