1. Sir Dr Brian Harold May CBE

   Sir Brian May, legendary Queen guitarist and astrophysicist, was the fourth Chancellor of the university, a post in which he championed the student focussed approach that is core to LJMU’s vision and values.

2. Tom Murphy

   Read the oration for Tom Murphy on the award of their Honorary Fellowship from Liverpool John Moores University presented by Professor Roger Webster.

3. Using forensic science to tackle illegal wildlife trade 

   More effective measures of detection are needed to help stop the trade in illegal animal products. An LJMU graduate is working on an innovative approach to address the problem.

4. Networking and Mentoring Event: Embracing Gender Equity and Diversity

   We are delighted to announce a special networking and mentoring event focused on strengthening diversity and gender equity in IAHR, as part of River Flow 2024. The event will take place on 3 September 2024 at 5pm, in Room 2.06, Student Life Building.

   Positive Action are programmes and initiatives which LJMU and other organisations can take to address the under representation of communities in the workplace.

8. Time domain astrophysics

   Within the time domain astrophysics research group, we are involved in major observational survey projects. We work on a variety of explosive transients, including galactic and extragalactic novae, type la supernovae, core collapse supernovae, and gamma rays bursts. The Liverpool Telescope is the workhorse of the group. Find out more about our research.

   Learn how our research on female athletes uncovers the impact of hormonal changes on performance, helping develop personalised training and nutrition plans for women.

10. Maritime Knowledge Hub

    Working in partnership with Mersey Maritime, The Maritime Knowledge Hub helps to meet the training needs of the maritime industry, whether that is through our facilities or through our specialist training courses.
