1. Celebrating the harvest festival of Onam

   The festival of Onam explained: Rosetta Binu, LJMU Senior Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Allied Health and our LJMU Equality team explain what the festival of Onam is, and how it is celebrated.

2. Registration open for conference on decolonial approaches to teaching and research

   A mini-conference highlighting developments in decolonial approaches to teaching and research across the university featuring three sessions of talks and discussion on decolonising pedagogy, assessment and research methods, will take place in November.

3. Empowering staff to support PGRs from racially minoritised groups

   Academic and professional services staff who support PGRs have a bespoke training and development opportunity designed by the educational charity Grit Breakthrough. Using a coaching approach to support PGRs is a two-day online coaching workshop, which will run across two days in November.

4. Latest quality management and academic partnerships operational guidance

   Colleagues are encouraged to review the guidance to inform their engagement with these key quality management mechanisms this academic year.

5. New templates for the nomination of external examiners

   Now incorporating a dedicated template to nominate external examiners from industry or practice.

6. LJMU launches Sponsorship Programme for Ethnically Diverse Staff

   The Diverse Futures: LJMU Sponsorship Programme is designed to pair ethnically diverse staff with senior leaders and managers.

7. New humanities and social sciences research centre

   The Liverpool Centre for Cultural, Social and Political Research (CSPR) has been established to bring together expertise around humanities and social sciences to drive forward the impact of their work.

8. Law Students Take Part in Mock Employment Tribunal Event

   As part of LJMU's School of Law ethos to provide students with career-shaping opportunities, students recently participated in a mock employment tribunal at Liverpool Town Hall. The event allowed students to experience the inner workings of an Employment Tribunal and observe the skills and knowledge needed as they progress towards their careers in the legal sector. The students were able to experience a simulated trial thanks to the teams at Brabners, 9 St John Street Chambers and Adaptable Recruitment.

9. Liverpool Business School makes global entrepreneurship impact with Prime Minister of Lebanon

   Academics from LJMU's Liverpool Business School, alongside project colleagues from the Middle East, have met with the Prime Minister of Lebanon, Mr. Najib Mikati, at the Grand Serail to present a policy brief on entrepreneurship in Lebanon.

    Journalism students from Liverpool John Moores University have been reporting on the general election for ITV, BBC and Sky News.
