1. Tate launch for Literature and Cultural History Research Institute

   Themes of sea, migration and mobility swept through the launch of the University’s Research Institute for Literature and Cultural History at Liverpool Tate.

2. International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) - 3rd December 2019

   1981 was designated by the United Nations as the International Year of Disabled People and since then, 3rd December has been marked as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The day aims to promote a better understanding of disability issues with a focus on the rights of disabled people and the gains derived from their integration into every aspect of the political, social, economic and cultural life of our communities.

3. Grants and Projects (GaP) System is Live!

   Research and Innovation Services and Finance are now using the new Grants and Projects (GaP) system.

4. LightNight 2019 – Rituals – A free one-night arts festival

   Celebrating it's 10th anniversary LightNight returns on Friday 17 May 2019, unlocking the doors of Liverpool’s best-loved and lesser-known arts, culture and heritage venues late into the night.

5. TRANSPEER in Lisbon

   The Portugal-leg of TRANSPEER, the international researcher development programme, has taken place in Lisbon.​​​​​​​

6. Research and Innovation Day Invites Entries to Scholarly Snaps Competition

   The competition for scholarly snaps will take place again at this year's Research and Innovation Day on Wednesday 19th June. To be a part of this competition please submit your pictures by Wednesday 5th June.

7. Consultation LJMU and the Atlantic Slave Economy

   In February 2019, LJMU joined the Universities Studying Slavery Consortium (USS), based at the University of Virginia.

8. Academic Board Elections - Non-Teaching Staff

   Following the call for nominations, an election for the non-teaching member of staff on Academic Board will take place.

9. New study suggests explanations for usage of plesiosaurs’ long necks

   Plesiosaurs are an extinct group of marine reptiles from the age of dinosaurs who are famous for their long necks. The effect of such long necks on how these animals swam is a mystery but now computer simulations are helping LJMU scientists understand what would happen if a plesiosaur turned its head while swimming.

10. Professional Services Conference 2019

    Registration is open for the 2019 Professional Services Conference, being held on Thursday 27th June in the Redmonds building. This year’s theme is “Leadership Matters” with a focus on resilience, health and wellbeing.
