   An international team including LJMU and led by University of Maryland has constructed one of the most detailed descriptions of a gamma-ray burst to date.

6. Educate North Awards 2016

   LJMU won two categories at the Educate North Awards 2016 and was highly commended for another project.

7. Confidential Waste Policy update

   The updated policy includes further information on disposing of small amounts of confidential waste in confidential waste bins across the university and on how you can order secure bags for larger quantities.

8. Improving how medicines are managed in the NHS

   The first research collaboration in the UK between a hospital, university and community pharmacist is taking place through a unique project from LJMU, the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust and LloydsPharmacy.

9. Record-breaking supernova discovered

   Astronomers scanning the sky to make new discoveries in the universe have witnessed a record-breaking cosmic explosion about 200 times more powerful than a typical supernova - and more than twice as luminous as the previous record-holding supernova.

10. LJMU partnering in major police fatigue study

    The National Police Wellbeing Service has been awarded funding to conduct a study of their sleep fatigue and recovery biometrics programme in partnership with LJMU.
