1. First Step Spring Internships available for Level 4 students

   A new pilot internship programme for first year students (level 4 only) with little to no previous work experience launched on Monday 15 January and close at midnight on Sunday 4 February. There will be no interview process for these opportunities, the Student Futures team will undertake a matching process between participating organisations and students. The internships will begin on Monday 4 March (start dates may vary for each role).

2. Redmond calls for more transparency in C4 relocation debate

   Panel including Channel 4 agree the status quo is no longer viable at public debate on relocation of the broadcaster

3. Times Higher Award shortlisting for ‘star-shattering’ research project

   New technology using Artificial Intelligence alongside the famous Liverpool Telescope (LT), has been shortlisted for a Times Higher Education Award for Research Project of the Year 2017.

4. Researcher gains national coverage for work on human trafficking

   LJMU’s Dr Daniel Silverstone, Director of Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies, has delivered a series of national media interviews related to his research on human trafficking.

5. £575k boost for student mental health provision in Liverpool

   A partnership featuring Liverpool John Moores University has been awarded £575k worth of funding from the Office for Students for a project to further develop mental health provision for students across Liverpool.

6. Cheering for research and innovation at the Royal Court

   LJMU welcomed nearly 300 staff to the third Research and Innovation Day at the Royal Court on 20 June.

7. New hub of wellbeing events for students and staff

   We've launched the ‘Looking after your wellbeing’ event hub on the LJMU website to bring together all the different events happening across the university and help you look after your wellbeing.

8. Telling the stories of our people for our Bicentenary

   Since the start of our Bicentenary year, we’ve been curating profiles that tell the stories of our people from the past, the present and those shaping and changing the future for the better.

9. £3,600 raised for charity in first week of NSS

   We have raised a fantastic £3,600 for charity during the first week of the National Student Survey 2020.

10. Another ‘first’ for LJMU in Sport and Exercise Sciences

    Professor Zoe Knowles is set to become the first woman to chair the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES).
