1. LJMU announces Honorary Fellowships for Summer Graduation

   Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is delighted to announce this year’s Honorary Fellowships to be conferred during its graduation ceremonies this July.

2. Women in STEM lecture series: Chi Onwurah MP

   In 1984, there were 14 per cent of female graduates in engineering and technology courses. In 2015, there was still only 14 per cent of female graduates in engineering courses. This sad statistic formed the basis of an impactful lecture by Chi Onwurah MP about the gender imbalance in Science, Technology, Engineering and Technology (STEM) subjects and subsequent careers.

3. MSc student takes on role as Juror for 2024 Eurovision Song Contest

   LJMU Audio and Video Forensics Masters student and Music Producer, Brian Sheil was selected as a juror for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, which was held in Malmo, Sweden, on Saturday 11 May.

4. Exhibition offers a backstage pass on the promotion of live rock and metal performances

   The first-of-its-kind exhibition has been curated by LJMU scholar Dr Nedim Hassan.

5. Northern Ireland Teachers’ Conference success

   Visitors heard about the latest admissions policies revealed during an informative Q&A admissions panel, in addition to participating in a session delivered by several LJMU students from Northern Ireland who talked about life at LJMU.

6. LJMU appoints Julia Midgley as Bicentenary year Artist in Residence

   Julia has a long history of connections with the university and will record events throughout 2023 in documentary drawing and watercolour sketches.

7. Supporting reconciliation in Cyprus through the recovery of war missing

   Families in Cyprus have been able to finally lay their relatives to rest thanks to a humanitarian project involving anthropologists from LJMU who have recovered and identified remains from multiple war graves.

8. UK’s first dedicated housebuilding degree

   LJMU’s Department of Built Environment, in partnership with Redrow and Coleg Cambria, have established the UK’s first dedicated Housebuilding Degree.
