2. Support for Young Adult Carers

   On national Young Carers Awareness Day, LJMU announced an official package of specialised support to ensure young carers are able to benefit from the advantages a university education can provide.

3. LJMU 2nd in Uni Compare Top 100 University Rankings

   LJMU has risen two places in the overall rankings and is placed in the top 10 for its accommodation, course quality, employability and student life.

4. Liverpool announced as one of the cheapest cities for students to live

   According to new research, on behalf of the Royal Bank of Scotland, Portsmouth, Liverpool and Newcastle respectively all landed in the top three in the Student Living Index. The research takes into account the everyday cost of living and accommodation costs.

5. LJMU students help refugees at the Polish/Ukrainian border

   MA Wildlife Conservation students Vanessa Grundy, 27 and Alex Donnelly, 27 along with Vanessa's brother Mike Grundy are currently at the Poland-Ukraine border helping refugees get to safe accommodation in Krakow, and further across Europe, following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

6. Astronomical Day celebrating National Care Leavers Week.

   In celebration of National Care Leavers Week LJMU welcomed 40 looked after pupils from 10 schools across the North West Region.

7. Whitechapel Christmas Appeal shows caring side of LJMU

   Thanks to the generosity of staff and students for the 2017 Whitechapel/LJMU Christmas Appeal, the University collected nearly 100 boxes of donations for homeless people and families in Liverpool.

8. New EDI Workshops Announced – Domestic Abuse Awareness & ‘Actions Speak Louder’ Allyship Training 

   LJMU's Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Team are proud to be working in partnership with a number of subject specialists, to deliver a range of interactive (online) staff development training opportunities, including the introduction of two brand new courses; a 2 hour Domestic Abuse Awareness Workshop and a 90min 'Actions Speak Louder' Experiential Allyship (Race) training session, as well as the return of LJMU's 3 hour Transgender Awareness Workshop (back by popular demand).

9. Wellbeing journals: order copies for your new students

   Copies of the new wellbeing journal are now available and staff are encouraged to order copies for their students.
