   Scousebrow or powerbrow? Pluck, pencil, thread or wax? Researchers at LJMU and the University of Liverpool want to hear about your relationship with your eyebrows at a special Brews & Brows event hosted by FACT.

4. Go ahead for new treatment for Black Bone Disease

   A new drug to treat the ultra-rare genetic disease alkaptonuria (AKU) has been given the go-ahead following research in Liverpool.

5. LJMU PHD student Valeria Carini recognised at Pandemic Institute’s first Student Excellence Awards

   Valeria was presented the award alongside students from the University of Liverpool and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine with grants for scientific research, aimed to enhance preparedness for future pandemics.

6. Student Spotlight: Abbie Romano

   The representations of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) roles is improving, but there’s work to be done. As of 2018, WISE Campaign (Women into Science and Engineering) announced that the UK is on track to have one million women working in the field by 2020. These statistics are encouraging, and demonstrate an improvement in opportunities shown to young women who pursue the career path.

7. Sexual Violence Awareness Week

   Throughout Sexual Violence Awareness Week (Monday 4th – Sunday 10th February), a new team of staff from Student Advice and Wellbeing Services were out and about across the University to talk to students and staff about the impact sexual violence and harassment has on individuals and communities

8. Themes emerge from inaugural Liverpool Health Commission investigation

   Liverpool Health Commission, supported by LJMU, is currently midway through its inaugural investigation and is able to report a number of emerging themes.

9. LJMU ‘Eco-bricks’ set to extinguish Bangladesh’s polluting kilns

   Civil Engineers from LJMU are helping solve one of the most pressing industrial problems in Bangladesh with a new process for making bricks.

10. International learning experience at Virtual Global Citizens Conference 2020

    Delegates from all round the world participated in the LJMU Virtual Global Citizens Conference between 11-12 November 2020. They discussed seven adapted UN Sustainable Development Goals.
