3. In memoriam: Professor John Somauroo

   It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Professor John Somauroo.

4. Academic Board Elections - Teaching Staff

   Elections for the Academic Board teaching staff will take place from 24th May until 11th June 2019.

5. Teaching Staff - Call For Nominations to the Board of Governors

   Nominations are sought to fill one vacancy on the Board of Governors for a Staff Governor (Teaching) for the period 1st April 2020 to 31st March 2023.

6. Black History Month Lecture reaches over 100 pupils!

   In celebration of Black History Month LJMU Historian Dr Andrea Livesey delivered a bespoke lecture entitled "Toppling Statues and renaming building" | The Black Lives Matter Movement and the History of Slavery to young people across the U.K.

7. Supporting reconciliation in Cyprus through the recovery of war missing

   Families in Cyprus have been able to finally lay their relatives to rest thanks to a humanitarian project involving anthropologists from LJMU who have recovered and identified remains from multiple war graves.

8. Celebrating Cultures Event

   The celebrating cultures event this year had India, China, Canada, Pakistan, Colombia, Nepal, England, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lesotho, Scotland, Vietnam, Nigeria, Indonesia, Greece, Italy, Bangladesh, Switzerland, Iran, Somalia and Brazil being represented. Following this event, an international student wrote a reflection on their experience in participating.

9. LJMU presented with gold award for support of the Armed Forces community

   The university was officially presented with the award at a ceremony at the city’s Liver Building.
