2. Start-up funding opportunity for new student businesses

   The LJMU Start-up Hub is excited to announce that the new Bathgate Boost award is now open! The £500 award is designed to support students who can demonstrate their business idea. Sitting alongside this funding is a package of support from the Start-up Hub team built around developing your start-up and skills as an entrepreneur. The award is open to all current LJMU students and new alumni who graduated from LJMU during 2023.

3. 5G technology used in Liverpool

   Margot James, Minister for Digital and Culture, this week visited Europe’s first dedicated 5G health and social care pilot, helping people live independently at home.

4. Vegan-based biomaterials developed to support eco-friendly crop management

   New vegan-based biomaterials could be used instead of chemical products and pesticides to help farmers manage their crops in a more eco-friendly and sustainable way, according to new research.

5. Educate North Awards 2016

   LJMU won two categories at the Educate North Awards 2016 and was highly commended for another project.

6. LJMU and British Horseracing Authority launch new Racing PhD focusing on jockey nutrition and wellbeing

   Improving jockeys’ wellbeing and fitness through research and sporting partnerships

7. FAMELab2016 regional heat winner

   Marine Biogeochemistry PhD student Emma-Lou Smith has won the regional heat of FAMElab2016, held at LJMU.

8. Liverpool 5G Create project wins £4.3m funding from UK govt

   A project to deliver digital services to sick and elderly people in Liverpool has won £4.3million from the UK government.

9. Immersive museum performances by LJMU drama students a triumph

   Drama students performed three consecutive performances last month at the Western Approaches Museum as part of the Battle of the Atlantic 80th anniversary commemorations, which culminate this May across Liverpool.

10. Sector-leading and innovative practice in advancing equality and diversity

    In a recent report by HEFCE on Sector-leading innovative practice in advancing equality and diversity, LJMU was commended for the number and range of events and initiatives focusing on equality and diversity issues.
